Imagine… the sun rises over the golden savannah of Tanzania, the wind stirs the tall grasses, the call of an eagle echoes in the distance. You are standing in your private 4×4, your eyes scanning the horizon in search of a solitary elephant, a cheetah hidden in the grass, or the Big Five gathered beneath the golden morning light.
This Hakuna Matata journey is a true ode to wonder, an immersion in the greatest parks of northern Tanzania: Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Tarangire.

Over eight days and seven nights, you explore legendary territories, each with its own soul — tropical forests, volcanic craters, endless plains and rivers inhabited by elephants. You sleep in carefully selected lodges, sometimes under charming tents, lulled by the sounds of the bush: the distant laugh of a hyena, the splashes of a hippopotamus, or the deep roar of a lion at nightfall.

Your French-speaking guide introduces you to wildlife and local cultures. You discover Maasai villages, share a smile with the people of Mto Wa Mbu, and let Tanzania etch itself into all your senses: its flamboyant colours, its scents of acacia and red earth, its endless light.
And as the Swahili philosophy Hakuna Matata — “don’t worry” — has it, all you need to do is live in the present moment and let yourself be carried away by the magic of Africa.

But the journey does not end there. After adventure comes gentleness: set course for Zanzibar, the spice island.
Under the trade winds, between white sandy beaches, turquoise lagoons and fishing villages, enjoy a few days of pure relaxation. Set off on a traditional dhow cruise, dive among the multicoloured corals, visit Stone Town and its cinnamon-scented alleyways.
Zanzibar is the perfect epilogue: a haven of peace where the beauty of the journey is extended by the sweetness of life.

Itinerary

Welcome on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to the lodge located near the airport.

Free dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, nestled at the foot of the Rift Valley.

As soon as you enter, the track winds its way into a dense tropical forest, where huge colonies of baboons, sometimes several hundred strong, come to life along the path. Blue monkeys slip between the branches, while the shy bushbucks move cautiously through the filtered light of the undergrowth.
The silvery-cheeked hornbills, with their large prominent casques, add a touch of exoticism to this jungle atmosphere.

The day is devoted to safari in the heart of the park, punctuated by a picnic lunch under the umbrella acacias. Manyara stands out for the diversity of its landscapes and wildlife: elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas and a multitude of water birds around the hippo pool.
The park is also famous for a rare spectacle: lions climbing trees, an unusual behaviour that you may be lucky enough to observe.

Late afternoon, drive to Mto Wa Mbu, a picturesque village located on the edge of the park.
On request, your driver can arrange a village visit so that you can discover local daily life and traditions.

Dinner and night at the Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge (or equivalent accommodation).

After breakfast, early departure for a day of exploration in the Ngorongoro Crater, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and often referred to as the eighth wonder of the natural world.

This immense caldera, formed by the collapse of an ancient volcano, stretches over nearly 20 km in diameter and is surrounded by a natural rim 600 metres high. A true wildlife sanctuary, it is home to an exceptionally dense fauna: elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and the exceedingly rare black rhinoceros. It is also one of the few places where it is possible to observe the Big Five in a setting unique in the world.

As your safari unfolds, you will discover the grassy plains and wetlands where hippopotamuses wallow, while buffaloes roll in the mud to cool off. Lake Magadi, with its salty waters, attracts a multitude of birds, including pink flamingos, herons and pelicans. More than 500 bird species inhabit this region, making the crater a paradise for birdwatchers.

Picnic lunch by the edge of Ngoitokitok pond, in the heart of nature, set against a breathtaking backdrop.

In the late afternoon, drive to Ndutu, on the doorstep of the Serengeti.

After breakfast, depart for another legendary stage of your journey: Serengeti National Park, a true symbol of African wildlife.

From December to March: the migration in Ndutu

During this period, the Great Migration concentrates in the Ndutu area, located on the border between the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will spend these days up close to the huge herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles that come to give birth on these fertile lands, while predators prowl nearby.

From April to November: exploration of the Serengeti

The Serengeti, Tanzania’s second-largest national park (nearly 15,000 km²), offers breathtaking landscapes: endless plains in the south, wooded and hilly areas in the west, granite kopjes in the east, and bushy savannah in the north.
This is where the spectacular wildebeest migration takes place every year, one of the most impressive natural movements in the world.

During your full-day safari, you will cross areas teeming with wildlife: elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs… and countless colourful birds. Hunting scenes are frequent, and in the vastness of the park, you may well be the only witnesses to a cheetah chasing a Thomson’s gazelle.

Packed lunch during the safari, then continue exploring until sunset.

Dinner and night at Serengeti Wildlands Mobile Camp (or equivalent accommodation).

Stages : Ndutu or Serengeti
Accommodation : Ndutu Wildlands Camp / Serengeti Wildlands Mobile Camp / Mbalageti Lodge (depending on the season)

After breakfast, depart for a final morning safari in Serengeti National Park, the last chance to enjoy the golden morning light and observe the wildlife in all its splendour. Sleepy lions on the kopjes, hyenas roaming the plains or elusive leopards curled up in the acacias: nature awakens before your eyes.

On the drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will cross landscapes of great beauty, where wildlife blends with Maasai villages.
This region perfectly illustrates the balance that Tanzania has achieved between nature conservation and responsible ecotourism, with exemplary conservation policies and sustainable park management.

Picnic lunch en route, then continue towards the Olduvai region, famous for its major palaeontological sites tracing the origins of humanity.
Possibility to visit a Maasai village to discover their customs and traditional way of life (optional activity payable locally).

Arrival in Karatu at the end of the day.

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s finest wildlife sanctuaries.

This day is devoted to a safari in the park, renowned for its spectacular landscapes and abundant wildlife. Covering 2 850 km², Tarangire offers a mosaic of scenery: golden savannahs, acacia forests and hills dotted with giant baobabs, the park’s emblem.

From August to January, the concentration of animals here is exceptional: elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, buffalo, as well as rarer species such as the gerenuk, the lesser kudu, the beisa oryx, the eland or even the very elegant greater kudu.

Picnic lunch in the middle of the bush, near the Tarangire River, which provides a permanent water source and attracts a wide variety of wildlife throughout the year. You may well see elephants stripping the bark from baobabs to extract water, a fascinating behaviour unique to this region.

In the early afternoon, drive to Arusha for the final stage of your journey.
