Itinerary

Arrival and check-in
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are warmly welcomed by our local team. A private transfer then takes you to your lodge, ideally located just a few minutes from the airport for a first night in complete peace of mind.

Meals and overnight stay
Free dinner (not included) and overnight stay at Moyoni Airport Lodge (or similar accommodation).

Stage: Kilimanjaro Airport

After breakfast at the lodge, early departure for Lake Manyara National Park, a natural gem nestled at the foot of the Rift Valley.

From the first kilometres, the track crosses dense tropical forest where huge colonies of baboons come to life, sometimes more than a hundred, playing and squabbling at the roadside. In the foliage, blue monkeys dart nimbly by while the elusive bushbucks appear between light and shade. The silver-cheeked hornbills, recognisable by their large casque, add a touch of exoticism to this living scene.

The day is devoted to safari in the heart of the park, punctuated by a picnic lunch under the umbrella acacias. This reserve is home to a varied and easy-to-observe range of wildlife: elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas… and a multitude of birds around the wetlands and the famous hippo pool. The park sometimes offers a rare and fascinating spectacle: that of lions perched in the acacias, a behaviour observed nowhere else with such regularity. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to witness this unique scene?

In the late afternoon, drive to Mto Wa Mbu, a picturesque village where it is possible, on request, to take a guided tour to discover local artisans and traditional cultures. ( > see the video of this village)

Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge, in lodge room(or equivalent)

  • Stages : Arusha - Manyara - Karatu
  • Accommodation : Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge

After breakfast at the lodge, depart for a full-day excursion into Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and often referred to as the eighth natural wonder of the world.

Formed by the collapse of an ancient volcano, the crater is a caldera 20 kilometres in diameter and around 600 metres deep. This enclosed ecosystem is home to a high density of wildlife within a limited area of around 260 km², offering some of the most favourable conditions for wildlife viewing on the African continent.

The day is devoted to the safari in the crater, where the Big Five may be seen: elephant, lion, black rhinoceros, leopard and buffalo. The plains and wetlands are also home to zebras, wildebeest, gazelles and hippopotamuses.

A picnic lunch is planned on the edge of the Ngoitokitok pool, a site known for the regular presence of hippos and water birds. Lake Magadi, situated in the centre of the crater, attracts a large population of birds, notably pink flamingos, pelicans and herons. More than 500 bird species have been recorded in the region, resident or migratory depending on the season.

In the late afternoon, return to Karatu.

Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge, in lodge room (or equivalent)

  • Stages : Karatu - Ngorongoro - Karatu
  • Accommodation : Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge

After breakfast, head for Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife sanctuaries.

This day is devoted to exploring this fascinating park, covering 2,850 km², famous for its huge herds of elephants and its landscapes dotted with majestic baobabs. Between August and January, the concentration of animals around the Tarangire River reaches its peak, attracting exceptionally rich wildlife: lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a great diversity of antelopes.

The park also offers the rare opportunity to spot certain more elusive species or ones absent from the other reserves in northern Tanzania: the long-necked gerenuk, the lesser kudu, the beisa oryx, the eland and the very elegant greater kudu, often sought after by wildlife photographers.

A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the open air, in the shade of an acacia tree, before continuing your safari along the Tarangire River, the park’s true lifeline, which maintains permanent water sources where countless animals come to drink.

Late in the afternoon, drive to Arusha for the final stage of the tour.
