What to do in Jambiani?

To pass the time, you have plenty to keep you busy. Here are some of the must-do activities and sights!

Jambiani Beach: sumptuous with its fine sand and turquoise water, ideal for swimming or strolling along the water’s edge. Stretching for 8 kilometres, it is probably the most beautiful in Zanzibar ! And above all, in the evening, you simply must watch the fantastic sunset.

Jambiani is an authentic place that is not yet very well known to the general public.

The villagers live from fishing and nature. Living simply, they make many products themselves. You will see it with your own eyes! Soap-making, coconuts repurposed to make canvases… The locals are very hands-on.

Very modest, the people of Jambiani live in an authentic setting among these makuti-roofed houses so typical of the island of Zanzibar.

  1. Visit the village and spend some time with the locals to immerse yourself in their culture.
  2. If you are a watersports enthusiast, one thing is certain: you will not be bored. Make the most of this prime spot for kite surfing. A wide beach, quite windy (not unpleasant when it is very hot). An ideal place for kitesurfing or windsurfing. And if you enjoy diving, you will see the magnificent marine life and its colourful coral.
  3. Hire a bike to go to Pajé and the surrounding area. You can visit these charming little villages and watch football matches in the evening, a very sociable time among the locals.
  4. Moving from one beach bar to another, enjoying a good cocktail or eating local specialities with a view of the water will remain wonderful and probably unforgettable moments.
  5. Take part in the local economy by buying seaweed for the production of food condiments and soaps (for personal hygiene or household cleaning).
  6. In September, there is the Watersport Festival. Over the course of a whole weekend, there are concerts, sports competitions (football, volleyball), as well as goat races and many other activities.
  7. Set off on an adventure in a Dhow (or boutre), the traditional fishermen’s boat! You will have the chance to go to the edge of the coral reef of the Indian Ocean and why not go snorkelling to observe its starfish !

Jambiani Beach

It is simply one of the most beautiful beaches in Zanzibar, with its white sand and clear water. What makes it different from the other beaches is that there are very few rocks in the water, unlike the beaches in the north of Zanzibar.

One thing is certain: on this beach, you are not likely to step on sea urchins!

On the catering front, you won’t be disappointed. All you need to do is head to its lovely beach to find a whole range of restaurants offering a wide variety of products to enjoy. Here is what you can find in the restaurants:– Fish – Meat – Wood-fired pizzasOne of Jambiani’s flagship restaurants is The Rock; its name could not be more appropriate, as it was built on a rock in the sea.
