Why visit Olduvai Gorge
To date, numerous discoveries, including at least 60 fossil great apes, indicate the evolution of the human lineage, including those discovered by Leakey. This site shows occupations from 2 million years ago to around 15,000 BC.
The Olduvai Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts many holidaymakers every year from all walks of life.
They are located between the conservation area of the Ngorongoro and the national park of the Serengeti.
The Serengeti is known for the world’s largest annual wildebeest migration and its Big Five.
For archaeology enthusiasts, you will not find a better place in Tanzania. Under every step you take, you will feel fragments of bones from animals fossilised for millions of years.

When should you go there?
Olduvai Gorge can be visited all year round; however, we recommend going there between June and September.

You can get there by hiring a car with driver from Laetoli (45 km) in Tanzania.
