Although Gombe Stream National Park is the smallest in Tanzania, it attracts many travellers who come to observe chimpanzees with their own eyes, as they are a threatened and protected animal species.

Approaching the chimpanzees is relatively easy, as they are now used to the presence of humans. However, you must still remain cautious and follow the instructions given to you by your guide.

Chimpanzees are not the only animals in the park.

Rates and regulations

  • 118$ per adult
  • 23.6$ for children aged between 5 and 15
  • Free for children under 5

Please note that these are the highest park fees in Tanzania. Your guide’s entry fee is also at your expense.

The park regulations are the same as for all wildlife parks in Tanzania, with a few additional rules:

  • One-hour contact limit with the chimpanzees
  • Wearing a mask to avoid/limit the transmission of diseases
  • You must keep several metres’ distance from the chimpanzees
